My name is Dena Schwartz; I’m a solo practitioner and have a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University, graduating in 2018. During my studies, I completed internships with Catholic Charities Behavioral Health and the Detroit Police Victim’s Assistance Program. These experiences allowed me to work with clients across a broad age range (8 to 78), addressing a wide variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, OCD, grief & loss, PTSD, alcohol abuse, family conflict, relationship issues, domestic and intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and trauma related to homicide.
As a compassionate, client-centered therapist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I believe healing is a collaborative process. My approach is rooted in the understanding that each individual is unique, and clients should take the lead in their own journey toward recovery and personal growth. I work from a person-in-environment perspective, recognizing that your history, circumstances, and environment play a crucial role in your mental health and well-being.
My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your challenges and develop the coping skills that empower you to create meaningful change. Each person’s path to healing is different, so I tailor treatment plans to meet your specific needs. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, coping with grief, or processing trauma, I am here to support you at your own pace, with an empathetic and flexible approach.
I offer in-person therapy and telehealth services in Michigan, and telehealth services for Alabama residents.
